Under this new development, The Square’s retail offering is set to more than double from its current 550,000 square feet of space.
Much of the new retail space is being configured in large units particularly suited to major multiple retailers.
The masterplan envisages the development of a series of new retail and public areas, laid out in streets and squares, providing a new circuit for shoppers, and enhancing access to the Centre’s retail and leisure facilities night and day.
The initial works, shortly to commence, involve a seamless extension to the north mall of the existing Centre of approximately 150,000 square feet. This extension will include a major new anchor store over two levels, plus approximately 15,000 square feet of convenience retail.
Major subsequent works envisage the development of the land to the west and south of The Square to create a major new retail zone of more than 500,000 square feet in area. These works include the creation of two parallel open streets of shopping leading to a new open air square to the south of the scheme bounded by a host of dining and other leisure facilities.
